Visit to the Fire Station

After the kids' music lessons at Cristofori Music School this morning, I brought them to the Hill Street Fire Station for a visit. We had visited it a few times and each time, Naomi and Nathan seemed to enjoy themselves. This time, while going through the exhibits at the museum on the second floor, Naomi spotted a pair of firemen costumes at the kids' corner. I didn't even notice it till now!

The kids happily wore the costumes and play dress-up firemen. It was fun for them to be in the imaginery world.

Besides teaching them about the role of the firemen, it is also important to teach them about the armour of God. Just like the costume of the firemen, which is to protect them from the perils of fire, God's full armour protects us from the enemy's assault:

"...Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." - Eph 6:10-17

Dear Jesus, thank you for preparing us to be "warriors of light". We can seek victory and protection by putting on the full armour of God. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
